Change to Hospital Blood Requests to be Taken in Practice

As a GP practice, we are currently trying to manage a huge and unprecedented rise in workload, partly fuelled by increased requests from hospitals and other clinics for us to do blood tests on their behalf. We have a duty of care to our patients to provide core GP service, which means that we need to be able to offer appointments to our patients for tests that the practice GP or nurse has requested.

The rise in hospital requests is putting a strain on this meaning our patients are having to wait longer for blood appointments, and creating extra workload for our doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and in extension the wider admin team with having to view, file, follow up, contact, and arrange appointments. We are now requesting that if you are given a blood form from a hospital appointment you have these bloods done at any of the below phlebotomy clinics at Gloucester Royal, Cheltenham General, or Quayside at Gloucester Quays.

Thank you for your continued support as always.
