Changes to our Appointment System

The demand for GP appointments is currently very high, and over the last few months we have been trying to offer a mix of on the day and pre-bookable appointments to suit as many of our patients as possible.  Unfortunately, the pressure on our current booking system has become unsustainable and we have been looking at new ways of working to improve appointment availability for patients.

From Monday 7th December 2020, we will be moving towards a more “on the day” approach – similar to how our GP appointments were offered at the start of the very first lockdown.

All GP appointments remain by telephone only in the first instance.  We have 4, sometimes 5 GPs working each morning and all the doctors will have telephone appointment slots which can only be booked by calling Reception on that day.  This increases the number of on the day appointments we are able to provide, and if you are in the middle of an episode of care with a particular GP you should be able to book a further consultation with that GP, subject to availability.

Additionally, if you have had a telephone consultation and your GP decides you need to be seen face to face they will arrange this with you, and in the majority of cases you should see the doctor you spoke to initially rather than a different GP as often happens now.

We ask all our patients to please bear with us during this transition period.  Our Reception staff will always do their best to help you, and rest assured that if you are acutely unwell you will always be able to speak to a doctor.

If you have a minor ailment please remember you can always visit your local pharmacy who will be happy to help, or you can contact NHS 111.

Our telephone lines are always very busy, and we ask that if you are unwell you call us as early as possible so we have the time to arrange any treatment you may need.  Rather than telephoning, please remember there are other ways to contact us.  If your query is not urgent, or for example you are enquiring about your test results or you need to request a sick note, this can all be done here through our website and we will respond to you as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your co-operation.
